In the House of Commons, 31 v Samuels, Attorney-General for Ireland, replying to a question, said lhat regarding the circumstances in Ireland, fifty thousand men .was a reasonable number of recruits. Colonel Yale remarked that on a population basis -150,000 would be nearer, the mark. Mr. Croft said: "Compare it with Aus-tralia."—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.
