THE BALLOT
DRAWING COMPLETED YESTEBDAY. The ballot in' Class C of flic Second Division was completed shortly beloio midday yesterday. The drawing had wodeeded smoothly and rapidly, and wlie* the last of Hie 10,000 names hud been taken from the roll the Mayor of HclHiiglon (Mr, J. V. Luke, M.P.) congratulated the Oovornuieiit Statistician and his stair on their work. Ho said that t«e> manner in which the ballot was conducted was a credit to all concerned. Mr. 11. .1. lleardon, who had, watched the proceedings as the representative ofthe Wellington Trades and Labour Council, said lie was quite satisfied as to tuo absolute fairness of the system. Every reservist got a square deal in tlio ballot. The Gazette containing the names of the selected men is to be issued on Wednesday next. The names of tho men drawn in Wellington and the neighbouring districts .will be published in. The Dominion' on Wednesday morning.
