SCHOOL COMMITTEES' ASSOCIATION

« Tlio monthly meeting of the School Committees' Association took place at Ihe Education' Board's office last _ evening twenty-seven delegates being in ating, wenty-sevon delegates being in atA deputation from the Navy League, consisting of Mesdnmes S'-ewart ami Clark, waited on tlie Association to solicit help in the forthcoming ''bottle' rally for tho' Navy League Patnotio Fund. The association decided to invite all tho schools to take part. The Kosencnth School Committee joined the association, its representatives being welcomed by the president. Considerable discussion took place on a remit from the Lower Hutt High School Committee regarding the military standing of leachers, and recommending that the Education Board approach tho Efficiency Board and ask that the teaching profession be declared an essential industry. The remit was adopted by 18 votes to 9. It was decided to set up a sub-corn, mittce to go into and report upon the question of school requisites, and tha standardisation of books, and that a Dominion campaign be inaugurated to make the schools free in the full sense of the word.

As there was a considerable amount of business still remaining to 'be dealt with, tho meeting adjourned for a forteight.
