PRESIDENT STATES HIS POLICY
BIG BROTHER TO PROTECT j THE WEAKER I

Washington, Juno 9. President AVilson, addressing the editors from Mexico, .said: "America's pot icy towards Mexico is that the settlement of Mexico's internal affairs is nono of our business, tint I am distressed to learn t that certain influences in America, 'which I assume are of German origin, aro trying to misrepresent America's attitude. We are the champions of the weak nations. I look forward to the time when wo shall show Mexico and the; world not only that we do not want.a single.thing out of the war, but that wo will not take anything. AVe arc fighting so that never again any nation, great or small,'shall have to fear the selfish aggression of another. Tho United States intends to play the. role of big brother to Mexico, -whether you want us ior not. Let us have a common guarantee- that all of us will sign a declaration of political independence and territorial integrity. Let us agree that if any Power violates this doctrino we. will 'jump on her.' The whole family of nations must guarantee that no nation will violate this doctrino.yfhat is tho onjy conceivable basis of the future peace of the world, If onco we have mutual trust we will have the key to a permanent peace."—Aus.-N.Z.
