MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. S. E. M'Carthy, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court oh Saturday. ■ John Francis O'Keefo waß charged with the theft of a Gladstone hap; and contents, ' valued at JL'2O, the property of Percy Eobert Edwards. The Gladstone bag was removed from a motor-car standing in Johnston Street, and later sold to a second-hand dealer. When acoosted by the police O'Kccfe said he was drunk at the time, and did not know what he was doing. Ho was wearing a shirt that had been in tho bag, and a pair of military brushes were in his possession. O'lCeefo said the offence was committed whilo he was drunk. Ho was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, tho term to be cumulative with a term of three months he is now serving.
For insobriety a first offender who failed to appear m fined 205., in default 4S hours' imprisonment.
