PROFESSIONAL ORCHESTRA

The Wellington l'rofcssioual Orchestra, .had a. very large audience in .Hi« Majesty's Theatre lust evening, when it. gavo the third concert of the present, season. Mr. 11. Ifoschini was the acting-eonduc-tor. in the absence of .Mr. Herbert Blov. and tinder his direction the orchestra- gave a. most enjoyable concert. The programme oneiicd with the "Raymond" Overture (Thotnaa), ami this brisk composition, with its inspiriting military patrol march, was played most effectively. The second number was 'Valse. Trinte," (Sihelus). whieh was played with excellent, judgment. The. revelry of the. ghostly dancers was ruggesteil with the necessary restraint, and the climax came sharply. The third and fourth movements from Beethoven's "Pasloral Symphony" formed the third number on tlio programme. They tell if (he gathering of the country folks, the dancing to the skirl of tho pipes, and the sudden coming of the storm. The contrasts are very marked, and the realism is intense. The orchestra handled this great composition very successfully. Hen. delssohn's "Spring Song" was a delightful number. The subdued and graoefrl "Renetlictus" (.Mackenzie), "Three Dream Dances" (Coleride-Taylon, and Gounod's "Kaiist Fantasia" completed the pro. gramme.
