ORGANISED LABOUR
MOVEMENT GAINING STRENGTH
UNIONISTS ADVISED TO SET A HIGH STANDARD
London, June G. Mr. .Harry Gosling, in his presidential address to the National Transport "Workers' Federation at Newcastle, said the tendency of organised Labour was to create'industrial councils to obviate disputes and bring about a radical improvement in the lives and conditions of the workers by amicable means; but ho hoped tho trade unionists would not slacken their efforts because of the hopes based on the creation of those organisations. The fact that employers were anxious to meet the workers nowadays, he said, was due to the increasing strength nf the trade union movement. , There was not any limit to be placed on 'the total wealth available for distribution amongst the various classes of the community; therefore he advised all to set the standard as high as possible, and when that standard was reached to raise the standard again.—Aus.-N.Z.
