ADVANCE OF £3,000,000
AGAINST IMPERIAL MEAT PURCHASE
WELCOME FINANCIAL AID
Representations were made by the Minister of Finance on behalf of the Now Zealand Government urging the Imperial Government to pay for meat now held in store in New Zealand on account of tho Imperial- Government, valued at n!)out J24,000,000. The accumulation was of course, due to acute shortage of refrigerated shipping, which has been withdrawn and diverted from the colonial trade. •
The matter was taken up by tho High' Commissioner for New Zealand, who has now advised tho Hon. Arthur M. Myers,, Acting-Minister of Finance,' that ,tho sum.of ,£3,000,000 has been paid by the Imperial Government to .the credit of the New Zealand public account in London on account of the meat stored in Now Zealand. This payment will minimise- tho difficulties of finance which tho producers have had to faco under tho above-mentioned an'd will bo heartily welcomed by all interested throughout tho Dominion,
