■ THE WELLINGTON CLUB. The Wellington Chess Club's annual match, Bowlers v. Non-Bowlers, was concluded on Saturday evening, tho lnt'.er team .winning by 20 games to 12. Their superiority at the lower, boards, gave them the victory. Tho match was a most 'enjoyable one, and tho almost ontiro absence of one-sided games was a •••cry gratifying feature. A committee' inootiug was .held on Saturday evening, when it was decided to add to the usual programme by holding ii tourney to decide tho championship of the club.' Tho winner is to.hold tho top run on the ladder, and is to bo liablo to bo challenged in the ordinary way. Messrs. W. E. Mason and Godtechajk nero elected delegates' to tho New Zealand Chess Association, and Messrs. Mason, Purchaa, and H. A. Ward were fleeted ns tho Match Committee for tho ensuing year. The following were chosen to represent tho club in tho annual telegraphic match against the Canterbury Chess Club, which commences on Saturday next:—Messrs. Barnes, Mason, -Davics, W. Mackay, Kelling,- Still, .laines, Lee, Conncll, Godt-' sohalk, M'Nair, Barraud, Bruton. and E. S. Taylor. Some familiar names aro missing from, this list, notably Messrs; Purclias, Fouby, and Tver, who arc not tvailablo on-this occasion, and Mr. S'.

Gyles, who is. now only an honorary member.
