BRITISH HOSPITALS BOMBED ON CORPUS CHRISTI DAY London, May 31. On (he day the Archbishop of Cologne requested the Allies to refrain from bombing the town the Germans bombed British hospitals. After dropping flares the airmen loosed huge bombs, one scoring a direct hit on a large hospital which was displaying the Red Cross prominently. The. bomb ignited and wrecked the building, in which some sisters were pinned. They were struck down in the very act of ministering to the patients.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. AMEBICAN SURGEON KILLED. BRITISH FOREIGN OFFICE CRITICISED (Rec. June 2, 11 p.m.) London, June 1. Replying to criticisii of the Foreign Office, Lord Robert Cecil (Under-Secre-tary) said that the whole of tho Cabinet was responsible for tho immunity of Cologne on Corpus Christi Day.
