Wade (Agent-General for Now South Wales), in an article in tho "Nineteenth Century," emphasises that what was originally a matter of protest against the donblo income tax has now been converted by the war into n real grievance. Double . war tax was oppre-ssivo to the individual, and aho interfered with the development of Imperial resources. The increase in tho Australian war tax. combined with the increase in the British tax, compelled (ho<e subjected to the double tax to-pay Ms. 3d. and 12s. 3d. in the X.
