MONTHLY MEETING. The Hon. J. G. W. Aitkpn (chairman), Messrs. W. Allan, J. P. Luke, W.H. P. Barber, and Professor Enslerfield were present at the monthly nieefim? of the Wellington College Governors held yeslerday morning. The financial statement showed credits to the amount of £3-105 Ifls. l<l. The payments needed were:—Wellington College, .£853 16s. Id.; Girls' College, .£641 ss. 2<l. The outstanding fees were: "First term, .£188!) 13s. 2d.; arrears, .£G!> Os. Kd.: total, £1951 13s. 7d. Girls' Collegefirst term. £1711 life. 3d.; arrears, Mid 15s. 4d.: total, £2258 Us. 7d. The rents outstanding amounted to «C2GG 6s. U., leaving a credit of »£6357 9s. 9<l. The chairman said that the financial position was quite sound. Tenders were received for the electric lighting of part of the Wellington Collepe. Mr. Aitken said that the tender was not for the electric lighting of the wholo o f the building. It concerned the living part, tho boys' dormitories, and the classlooms that were used at night. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke): "I move that it be left in tho hands of the chairman." Professor Easterfield: "Can you supply the juice?" The chairman thought that there was a great deal of superfluous light that <ould be cut out, particularly in some o* the shop windows, where it was really not needed. Mr. W. H. P. Barber said that tho lighting of shop windows after 6 o'clock was all right. The trouble was at peakload times. Finally it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the chairman. An estimate for the work gave the cost at £180. Miss Batham (principal of the Girls' College) wrote, stating that the old iron destructor could not be used any longer with safety. Tenders had been called for the erection of a brick destructor, and the board decided tc accept Mr. Foley's tender to do the work at a cost of £30. Mr. A. Warburton Resigns. The resignation of Mr. A. Warbnrton as a member of the Wellington College Governors was received. Thei letter announcing his resignation contained a copy of a communication forwarded to the Minister of Education to the same effect. The chairman (the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken) said that neither in the letter to the board or the one to the Minister had Mr. Warburton assigned any reason for resigning his seat. He was rather surprised, as Mr. Warburton had taken a clese interest in' educational matters and was a very valuable member of the board Ho had been a member since JBi)6-a period of 22 years. Hβ thought they should place on record their appreciation of the services rendered by Mr. Warburton duriug the long term he had bee'i connected with the Board of Governors.

Mr. J. P. Luke said that Mr. Warburton had always been regarded as an acquisition as a member of the Board of Gov>rnors, and was noted for the able manner in which he had carried out his duties. Fegardiiig Mr. W. H. Field's term of office on the bonrd;. the secretary (Mr. C. P. Powlcs) said he had looked the matter up uiul found that, it expired in June, but a lettor from the Education Department stated that Iho term did not expire until October next, mid arrangements would bo mado iu tho meantime to attend to the matter.
