How) said that there was a remit on, the order paper deprecating the action of the Government in buying up so much highpriced land for tho purpose of soldier settlement when so much unused land was available.'- He trusted this remit would receive the support of the conference, as tho settlement of our unused land was of vital importance. The food question in tho northern hemisphere was morb serious than imany imagined, and after the war he considered the domand for Dominion products would bo greater than over. Prior to the war Britain produced GO per cent, of the meat she consumed, but it was doubtful if sho would do so in the future, and it was the duty of New Zealand and tho other oversea Dominions to increase production, particularly in respect to live stock.
