NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER IN AMERICA
In accordance with tho Proclamation recently issued by its President, to-day will bo observed as a special day of prayer in tho United States ou behalf of the Allies. At tho request of a niinibnr of Wellington residents, who aro very fully in accord with tho attitude taken up by America's President in this connection, and realiso tho nocd of a fuller public recognition of our dopondeiico upon God in this time of crisis, and of waiting upon Him in prayer, a cablegram whs dispatched to President Wilfion yesterday in the following terms:— "President Wilson, AVashington, Unitnrt Stales,— "On behalf Wellington, New Zealand, friends send warmest Christian greetings, appreciation, and thankfulness for your noble lead in honouring God by proclaiming Thursday, May i'O, day for humiliation, fasting, and prayer for Allied cause. Also, for recent pronouncement upholding national Sabbath observance. "Sprolt, Anglican Bishop. "Aitken, Presbyterian Moderator."
