Frauds George M'Cullough, who was convicted of being found drunk in Willis Street, was discharged, but for using obscene language ho was fined 20a., in dofault seven days' imprisonment. John Huie wus convicted and discharged for drunkenriesa, and was fined 205., with the alternative of seven days' imprisonment, for committing a grossly indecent act. For insobriety fivo first offenders who failed to appear were oaoh fined 20s. Henry John Beck, who was found drunk, was ordered to pay 375. 6d. medical expenses and other expenses amount, ing to 295. Gd. A remand for a week was granted in the case of Harriet Malonoy, who was charged that on May 25, at Wellington, she did commit theft of a pair of lady'* bloomers, valued at 4s. 6d., tho property of somo person unknown. Eail allowed in .£lO in her own recognisance. Harry Thomas Hunt was charged that he did answer questions put to him by a constable relative to his enrolment in tho reserve in a . wilfully misleading manner contrary to Section 44' of.the Military Service Act. Hunt pleaded guilty. Inspector Marsack asked for a romand to June i, as the police were not euro what the man's name was. Tho remand was granted. Tdonel Babin.il!, a seaman, was charged that on Mav 25 he did steal a pair of boots, valued at 355., .the property of Huddart, Parker Co., Ltd. Constable O'Connor, whilo stationed at the gangway of a vessel in port, noticed tho man moving about in a suspicious manner for some minutes, and then went up the gangway and accosted him. Tho accused had an oilskin coat thrown over one shoulder, and tho constable noticed that the sleeves were tied with twine and were bulgy. A search disclosed a boot in each sleeve, and the accused explained that ho had beon in charge of the handling of cargo in one of the holds, and after the wharf labourers had left ho found the boots lying among some cargo. They were awkward to. carry up tho ladder from the hold, so ho put one Ixiot in each- sleeve to take to the officor in ehargo, and was about to report. tho matter when the constablo spoke to him. Tho Magistrate characterised tho story as a thin one, and sent Babinall to gaol for a month A line of 2fls., in default seven days imprisonment, was imposed on James Healey for -disorderly conduct whilo drunk in Ghuznco Street. .

MAINTENANCE CASES. William Kobert Fisher, for disobeying a maintenance order, the arrears amounting to £2$ 10s., was ordered to pay ss. in reduction of arrears, in default seven days' imprisonment. John Angus Parry, whose arrears totalled .£2G 55., was ordered to pay .£lO forthwith, and to pay 10s. a week-in reduction of the balance, with tho alternates- of 14 days' imprisonment,
