WIDOW'S EVIDENCE OF A LAST LETTER. Dr. R. S.' Trevor, the famous pathologist, died recently in tragic circumstances. At the inquest at Kensington it was shown that he had committed suicido by morphine poisoning. He was very much overworked, had suffered from sleeplessness for five years, and was depressed by an estrangement' from his wife. "Break the news vo my wife," was part of a noto found under his pillow. The coroner asked for n letter sent by Dr. Trevor to his wife a few days before his death, but counsel for Airs. Trevor declined; it contained no threat to take his life, counsel said. The coroner Insisted; he would if necessary apply for a warrant to compel Mrs. Trevor to produce it. After consultation with her counsel, Sirs. Trevor said she- destroyed the letter immediately she had read it. By permission she wrote down tho.effect of the letter. Answering tho coroner's questions, she said she had a difference,with her husband beforo she went away.' i The coroner: What was tho nature of it? Mrs. Trevor: I refuse to answer. Mr. Henry Howe, a 'banker's agent, who answered Dr. Trevor's letter at tho request of Mrs. Trevor, said the answer was that Mrs. Trevor was not prepared to return to her husband. 'He coroner: What was her reason?— "I think: she found it impossible to live with him. Ho was very, irritable and deprewed and difficult to livo with." The coroner and jury expressed sympathy with the widow and relatives.
