POULTRY SHOW
OPENED AT NEWTOWN A VERY GOOD DISPLAY Tho first young bird show of the Wellington Poultry i'anciere, Utility Breeders, and Exhibitors' Club was opened at the Victoria All, Newtown, .'esterday afternoon by the Mayor of Wellington (Mr J. p. Luke, C.At.G.). About ISS birds were on exhibition, and (hey provided a very fine display. In (he opinion ol the judge of the utility classes (Mr. i. C. Brown, Chief Government Poultry Jixpert), the quality of the birds in this section exceeded all expectations. Thero was evidence that utility breeders were not only breeding from an egg-yielding point of view, but were nlso actuated by a desire to combine tho qualities of beauty and usefulness in thoia birds. Mr. Brown praised tho exhibit cf bantams, and said he thought bantams should be included in every show schedule for the reason that children were thereby induced to evince- an interest in poultry. In Opening the show, !ho Mayor expressed surprise and pleasure n't seeing such a film exhibition of poultry at this timo of the year; He wished the club every ■success.
