THE LADY "BOSS"
A MERE MAN'S PROTEST. Sir,—A lady head lias recently been appointed to the Office of the Lands and Deeds Department in a southern centre*; Now, Sir, I do not entertain the least;,' doubt that thi! Public Service Cqniniis- ■>' 6ioner appointed her on her merits re- ! gftrding experience and classification, but,, nil the same, I four such Jin appoint-' iuent will not make the office! •a happy one. If 1 were in the, office, and were obliged to take; my instructions from the lady head, I "should feel a rebel nil the time.. I am single, and may be prejudiced,. | but give me 8 man for my "boss." Even, in the Army it is a delight to say "Sir" to a middle-aged officer whom you to-) sped, and, believe me, if such an officer) knocked me down for failing to comply j with his instructions, I should fuel much less of a rebel than I should feel if employed in the southern office ■as at' present constituted. ; ! Perhaps I am a man with a "kink, , but somehow I feel I represent my class, and others will feel as T. do, but, perhaps, less (strongly. I plead , guilty to ■ tlio fact that few men are more sriscept- j ihlo to the eharins of women than Ii am, but eire me a man for my "boss."! —I am, etc., ' ; MILITARY. .
