Progress has been mado with the overhaul of the Opihi, formerly the hulk Lilla, at Lyttelton. The vessel is being converted into a steamer, and the propeller has been fitted. News reoeived by the last American mail states that a number of overdue vessels have arrived at San Francisco from Sydney, New Zealand ports, and the South Sea Islands, some of the vessels make exceptionally long voyages, say; tho Sydney "Shipping List." The longest trip of all was that of the four-masted schooner 11. D. Dendiisen, which was 127 days from Sydney. The schooner John and Wiuthrop, from Auckland, via Lovuka, was 109 days out; the barquentine Lyman D. Foßter, 90 days from Auckland; tho barqueutine Wanganui 95 days from Auokland; the 6chooner Esther, 90 day* from Tonga; the Commonwealth Government's barque John Murray, 86 days from Melbourne; Messrs. Burns, Phllp and Co.'s schooner W. 11. Smith, 69 days from Sydney. Tho American four-master barquentine Lahama. which has a reputation for very fast passages, made a long trip of 83 days from Sydney. The Omega, 61 days, and the Zampa, 65 days, both from Apia, have also arrived at San Francisco. The old barque O. I). Bryant, 832 tons, arrived at liabaul on April 1, after a passage of 66 days from Callao. The C. D. Cry ant is the first American barque to enter the port of Itabaul, and naturally her arrival thero created somo comment nmongst the shipping community. The C. D. Brsjnt is under charter to Messrs. Burns, Philn and Co., and was to load copra for San Francisco.
