MAY DAY IN RUSSIA
PROLETARIAT CELEBRATES ITS HEY-DAY QUEER DEMONSTRATIONS AGAINST "CLASS" London, May 22. Tho Petrograd correspondent of the "Daily Express" states tliat tho Bolsheviki celebrated tho Russian May Day as a "festival of victory over capitalism." Tho celebrations were of the strangest character, and included the daubing of tho Marinsky Palace, the Winter Palace, and tho Government offices with Cubist designs, and the erection of Cubist picture galleries in the Nevsky Prospect Tho allegorical designs represented the prepress of the proletariat, including a picture of the Kaiser as a skeleton Death, with a scythe, mowing down the red flowers of revolutionary Eussia. The celebrations in Mosdow included the wholesale removal of ail monumonts erected in memory of monarchs. Of stautes of the Tsar's times, only a Skobeleff monument was spared.
