WORK OF THE CHURCH ARMY
! Many strange and picturesque places ( in the war arena have been (elected as sites for Church Army vecreation hvts. There 19 one in the prison vault of a well-known city (now in ruins) in Flanders; one has been set up on a barge plying on tho Flemish canals; another is on Mount Olnst .in Palestine. A , special point is made of the work among tho sailors of the fleot and the crews of niinc-sweppcns. ■ In some lonely places on tho coasts nf the British Isles, tin Church Army huts aro the enly available centres for recreation and companionship to which the sailors have access. Hut* aro also in operation on every battlefront and in all training camps. •In New Zealand the Church Armv's operations are conducted through tho Military Affairs Committee of tho Church of 'England. Our i-oldiers aro , thus helped not only m camp, but also * on tho troopships and in hospitals, and whorever they may be sent on active service. An appeal is being made Inr funds to extend these patriotic endear* ours in New Zealand and elsewhere.
