STATE CONTROL CONSIDERED NECESSARY.
London, May 21. A special committeo of tho Treasury reports that tho possible dangers from further large amalgamations of banks outweigh tho arguments against Government interference, and states that 6ome measure of Government control is essential. It recommends legislation requiring that the Government's approval should bo obtained prior to any amalgamation or for tho purchase, of shares ot another bank.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
