SIR. COATES DELIVERS HIS FIRST SPEECH. By TclesraDh.—Preee Association. Greymouth; May 20. Mr. T. E. Coalcs delivered his first address in the campaign for tho Grey sent on Saturday last, at Barrytown. After stating that ho favoured the Government's win-the-war efforts and 'conscription, ho urged that all single eligiblo men should bo sent before tho married mon. Ho trenchantly criticised tho Government's homo policy with regard to railways and .land. Ho favoured the Government taking over tho WollingtonLyttcUon ferry service, and so terminato the annoyance and expense caused by tho Union Company's steamers failing to connect at Lyttclton with tho West Coast express.
