« Tho Wellington Club on Saturday evening openod the :918 season with tho annual match, liowlers v. Non-Bowlers, when there was a large attendance. Eighty players have been paired in advance, a fortnight being allowed for the playing of the fixtures. The earner resuits gave tho Bowloiss a lead of two games, but at :(l μ-m. tho teiims we level, and when piny censed at 11 P-™. tho Kon-Bowler<s wore "lying three.' bo far the Uowlors uave esored six games, their wins being scored by Messrs. Jji. b. 'I'uylor, iierry, Douglas, it. C. bun, W. Grenfell, a:ul tho Tiev. Castle, of Island Bay (who inadu a successful first appearance). The Non-Bowlers hnve nine games to their credit, scored by ATessrs. iouliy, M'Niiiv, A. Clark, llo|)kins, Croxton, Stokes, Cliinclieii, M'Lsireu, and Coulter. Tho Kumce at board three (J. A. tonnoil v. W. Mackay) ende<l in o. draw, and the. bout between Messrs. h. M. Bliiko. and Connell, jun., stands adjourned in si very evmi state. Only sixteen games out of forty are thus accounted for. A fortnight's grace is being, allowed for completion or Die hventy-tour ■ outstanding fixtures. Last years watcli ended in favour of tho Non-Bowlers by a margin of live games (18-13), but tho present contest is expected io ■ produce it closer result. - Tho Wellington South Clubs annual handicap tourney is echodiied to commence on Thursday evening.
