The herd, including three-quarter cows, averaged £14 Bs. 6d., and included in tho line were a number of September, October, and November calvers.
Messrs. flalgety and Company, Limited, Paliuerston North, report having a, very good entry of sheep and a small yarding of cattle at thoir Palmerston North sale on Thursday. There was good competition for sheep and a total clearance was effected, but oattle were not much in demand. Quotations :-Bheep: small lambs, Bs. to Bs. 7(1.; medium lambs, 135.; fair lambs, 15s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—We held our weekly sale on May 16 with a good entry of steep and a fair yarding of cuttle. There was a fair attendance of buyers' and practically all lots changed'hands at satisfactory prices. Quotations:—Sheep: Fat ewes, 269. to 295. 3d.; forward ewes, Ids. 9d. to 215.; store ewes, 10b. 7d., 14s. 4d., to 18b. 4d.; hoggets, Uβ., 13s. Id., to Mβ. 4d. Cattle: Fat cows. £9 to £11 55.; store cows, £6, £6 155., £7 55., to £8 10s. 6d.; 2-year to 25-year ateers, £7 65., £8 15s. to £11; bust-fed weaners, £6 10s. to £7 2s. At Feildinr on May 17 we had an average yarding of both sheep and cattle. Sheep were in good demand, and the bulk of the yarding was disposed of, prices having a tendency to harden. The major portion of the cattle yarded were of an unsaleable class and were hard to quit.
