Tho "Daily Telegraph" Milan correspondent states that a motor-boat, carrying Pellegrini and three othors, entered Pola harbour stealthily at night. Her light draught enabled the boat to pass ovor tho submarine mines, but steel nels and many surface mines endangered the channel. The boat rapidly approached tho Dreadnought and fired two torpedoes. The watching seaplanes saw botli hitting. No news has teen received of Pellegrini or his .companions, but tliore is little doubt as to their fate.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Italy has informed the United' States Government that tha presence of American troops on the Italian front is much desired.
