A SALUTARY SENTENCE
FOR INDKCENT ASSAULT. In the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon His Honour Mr. Justice Edwards had before luin for sentence an elderly man named Alan Talbcrt, who was found guilty the previous day of committing an indecent assault on a. male. , His Honour c aid that tho prisoner's case was not one for leniency. Tho crimo 'was one that struck at the very base of morality. Every act of the kind committed by tho prisoner was bound to do incalculable harm. It was absolutely accessary in such a case to iniposo a severe penalty. The sentonoo of rolonnalive treatment which ho would add would be open to review at any time by the Prisons fioard.
Taibert was sentenced to three years* imprisonment with hard'labour and five years' reformative treatment.
