New Plymouth, May 10. In the Supreme Court this morning the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) delivered sentences in the Eahotu riot cases. Te Whiti was sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment and fined .£2O, to bo paid ou release, in default a further §ix months' imprisonment. Six othor Maoris were sontenced to six months' imprisonment and fined illO; four others to four months' imprisonment and fined £7; six others were fined .£5 and given two years' probation, and one other was fined £2 2s. and given two years' probation.
In an application for an interpretation of the will of James Alwin, counsel raised the question whether the time of survivorship related to the death of the testator or the death of the life tenant. His Honour decided that the survivorship related to those living at the time of the death of the lifo tenant.
In the divorce case of George Henry Clarry v. Vera Kathleen Clarry, a decree nisi was granted, to ha made absolute in six months.
