WOOL AT THE DUNEDIN SHOW

'A determined effort hag this year been made by the Otago A. and P. Committee to secure..-a representative competitive exhibit of wools at the Winter Show. Very fair -response has been made by growers, although not perhaps what may & achieved next year,'when the somewhat troublesome initial'steps will bo more familiar to sheepmen. There is a lot in this wool business of particular interest to growers (says the "Otago Witness") and of import to the. Dominion output. Few. farmery, for instance,-ap-parently grip the importance of winter-ing-their flock well. :It is undoubted that the weight of wool froiii .the poorlytreated flock is not as great'as that from the same flock if properly cared for. Experiments' show that, with proper feeding, aard management, tho weight of tho fleece may be increased by at least lib. Good care not only increases the weignt of the fleece, but it improves the quality of the. fibre,--thus.; raisins tho market value of each pound of wool produced. It is satisfactory to know that some of our big woolmen appreciate the import. ' anoe of the spread of knowledge regard, ing wool and its characteristics among the younger generation, and arc offering encouragement to them to grow sound wool of character and of maximum .weight per sheep.
