A steamship of 628S tons, which has had its back broken, and was practically cut in halves amidships, was salved by the Salvage Association, and, after temporary repairs, taken into Milford Dry Dock. Mr. Frank Sharnian, of the firm of John Sliarman and Co., took the matter in hand, and in five or six weeks the. vessel had been lifted bodily, after which, in 6} hours, the keel was lifted, alined,. and put back into position. The Kimberley diamond fields were discovered in 1871.
