MEETING OP CHRISTCHURCH' BRANCH. By Tolegraph—Presß Association. Christchurch, May IG. A mooting of the (JjinstcJiurcn Second Division Leagueovas held to-night, Mr. H. A. Armstrong, president of the National Executive, presiding. The chairman said the leaguo must support tno Military Service Act. Under no circumstances had tine leaguo failed in its duty [ to soldiers and tlioir dependants. The special business ; of the meeting was to elect officers, most : of tiiosc holding office having resigned as a result of recent events. i An executive from which extremists' are missing was elected. ; At the conclusion of the meeting the following motion was carried unanimously with applause: "That this meeting of tho Christchurch Second Division League, having a full knowledge of all tho circumstances connected with tho sedition cases and convictions arising out of the recent public meeting, is strongly of opinion that the action taken was not meant as an incitement to reservists to resist authority, but was intended to bo addressed to the Government with tho object of hurrying an immediate betterment of conditions of sorvico, and would earnestly urge upon the Minister of Justice that clemency should bo shown to the offenders, ami Hie remainder of their sentences remitted." The chairman said it had been his opinion all along that thero had been no intention to indue* reservists to resist. It was further decided that the chairman be empowered to present the resolution to the Minister of Justice and endeavour to get the stigma of sedition removed from the men's records. i
