REPUBLICAN NONSENSE IN SOUTH AFRICA
GENERAL BOTHA HITS OUT. (Rec. May 16, 8.30 p.m.)
Cape Town, May 15. General Botha, in tho course of a speech to the South African Congress, again warmly condemned the Nationalist and Republican propaganda es nothing but an attempt to gain votes. Hertzog and his friends had been playing with fire, but Hertzog had now called a halt. General Botha said with emphasis that after the Boer War they had nearly despaired in deep sorrow and mourmna;, but in oveTything they could see Gods hand. A great and contonted South Africa had been established. It was nonsense, this talk of an oppressed nation. There must bo an end to all talk about raising commandoes. They o uld net allow that kind of thing to go on — Reutor.
