MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Committee of tne Wellington Kugby Union was held last night, when there were present: Messrs. 1). l). "Weir (chairman), \V. F. Hornig, A. Curtayne, A. C. Ivitto, G. Howe, A. J. Griffiths, J. Lundon, E. H. Ward, J. N. Hilliard, and W. W. Cook.
Victoria University College Club were granted permission to play a match against Canterbury College on Juno 11. Tho match will bo played as a curtainraiser to tho big match of that dayWellington representatives v. 'J'rontbam., The committee decided to assist tho Victoria College team out of the proceeds of the match, the amount to be governed by the extent of the gate receipts. The committee decided to disqualify for the next two playing Saturdays a player who donned the jersey last season 111 a match for Poneke fourth-dass team while he was at the time a member of St. James's third-grade team. The Wellington Football Association wrote requesting the union to assist them in the matter of playing two matches on the same ground. The usual procedure was arranged for last Saturday, but in tlio morning information was received that only < ne match per ground cuuld be played, and it was only after considerable difficulty that a satisfactory arrangement could be arrived at. The committee decided to confer with tho association on the matter with a view of waiting upon the City Kescrves Committee to have the difficulty adjusted. St. James's Club wrote, withdrawing its nomination (tfvo teams) from the union's competitions, thus bringing about the disbandment of the club. It was decided to accept the application of the Selwyn Club to enter a team for the senior competition. Selwyn's entry, into the senior competition will mean that there will bo a Dye each Saturday, there beiii£ now nine senior teams. To overcomo the difficulty tho committee resolved to try to get another soldier's team to play senior matches. The report of tho Wellington Publio Schools' Union was presented to the meeting. It stated that at the last annual meeting of the union it was decided that the age limit for players should lie fixed at 15 years six months, and weight not to exceed 10 stone, thin being in harmony with the rules governing the annual tournament. Ilegret was expressed that two of the union's late activo members, Second Lieutenant J. S. Marsden and Sergeant S. W. Dempsey, had made the supremo sacrifice in the performance of their duty for Kiug and countrv. Thanks were due to Mr. Laughton, of* tho Wellington Education Board's staff, for his kindly services, so willingly rendered in tho interests of the union. A letter was received from the Athletic Park trustees authorising the union to effect repairs to the grandstand at the park, conditional upon estimates being obtained for the execution of the work and supervision thereof by the union, Messrs. Weir, Hornig, and Griffiths were appointed a sub-committee to investigate the question, witli full power to act. With regard to tho fixtures for Saturday. it was decided that Hie match Old Boys v. Athletic be played mi No. 2 ,Ulilct.ic Park, and that Pelone meet Wellington at I'etone.
