Lady Phyllis headed the favourite. but the latter cuuio again and won by a head. Frisco liose, who caught the tapes oi tlie barrier, finished fast in tlnrd pliiee. Black Sleeves was next
Peter lf'.Mllian was the usual hot ■jrder in thu first trot, and leaving tlie mark smartly, he led all the way, winning by several seconds from Major Election and Imperial Dolly.
lilcnzi and Itosiui were withdrawn from tho Opawa U r elter Handicap. Lady Phyllis being saddled up the second time. Blue down, with Beeley in tho saddle, was a better favourite than Transmission and Skedaddle. Transmission was slow to lind her feet, and Skedaddle and John Gilpin led the favourite, who got stopped a couple of times going down the back. All started fn the Cup, tho top-weight, Henry Clay, being a. good favourite. 110 got the decision, but tho general opinion was that llauniakaka had won by a head. Good i'lopa carried ou the runnius for a mile with Aehilledes next and tho favourite in tho rear. In the straight l'ieu/.i and Ladify joined issue with tho favourite. who took charge at the distance. llauniakaka then challenged and passed .the post locked with the favourite. Tho judgo hoisted tho number one on ton. Ladify was two lengths away and then camo Rienzi, with Xanthos and Good Hope in the rear.
The biggest field of the day contested the Dash Hack Handicap. Gold Problem, who drew No. 1 nt the barrier, was a better favourite than Rawakore. At the start the Levin horse jumped out first, but Eroti Boy carried him along very fast. Entering the straight llawakoro waß in third place and at tho distance alio took charge and won easily from Gold Problem, who just beat Arihia. Tho last-named finished very fast. Eron Boy was fourth. Inora waa a better favourito tliau Dillon in tho Harness Trot. The favourito began smartly, but Dillon would not strike a gait. Black Arrow led for six furlongs, when the favourite took charge. Going kindly, lis won very easily from Invictiis, who finished well. Black Arrow was third and Dillon ner.t.
Astor, Starengo, and Merrie Poto were backed in that order for tho Flying Handicap. At the barrier Mount Victoria refused to join tho field, and was left standing. Blairfinde led Morrio Poto for a couple of furlongs, whore the latter fell back and A6tor and Starengo ran to tho front. In tho straight Uio pair fought out a good llnish and passed the post in a line. After a lot of delay the judge awarded the verdict to Astor, Ohudic was several lengths away.
Another field of five faced tho starter in tho concluding event, but this time backers wero wide of the mark. Gold Problem and Humorist were tho public selections, but after tho pair had showed out well. Frisco liose, too was unlucky in the Maiden Race, came fast in the straight and won by several lengths from the favourite. Arihia was third.
