1 The fortnightly meeting of the Society 1 for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals took place at the secretary's oflice, Cus--1 tumhouse Quay, last evening, Mr. Kil- , gour, in the absence of Mr. Meadowcroft, in the chair. Subscriptions to the amount of M 10s. were received, including i.'l Is. fiom Dalgety and Co. A complaint was received from drivers of the slippery state cf Ihe rwil way in Upper Cuba Street, i; 1 tiie vicinity of the People's Palace, aud the complaint was ordered to be forwarded to the City Engineer,for necessary action.
