London, March 15. Lieutenant-Colonel and Mrs. C. Core Gillon, of Auckland, are now at 9 Louder Mansions, Mill Lane, Kilburn. Regimental Sergeant-Major Stanley Stitchlmry, D.C.M., has joined the No. 2 O.T.C. at Pembroke College, Cambridge. Lieutenant-Colonel Findlay, of Ashburton, is on leave from Palestine. Mrs. Findlay has been doing canteen work for New Zealiindcrs in London. Mr. Clutha Mackenzie has been tho guest of Professor Seward at Cambridge. Ho.is shortly going to visit Mr. Christopher Turner .it Stoke. Jlrs. 1!. Heaton Rhodes, of Christchurch, who has just arrived in Eng. land, is r-nuch benefited in health by the sea voyage, and has lieen visiting New Zealanders in hospital. Miss Mackenzie, daughter of the High Commissioner, and Mrs. Seton Reid are in charge of tho New Zealand section, which will collect in. tho Strand for ."Women's Day" on March 22. Sir Thomas Mackenzie has returned from a tour of New Zealand hospitals and camps, including Torquay, whero there are generally iargo numbers of New Zealande:-3 waiting to return .home. Tha N.Z.W.C.A. proposes to cpen suitable recreation rooms at Torquay for tha use of these men. Sir Thomas attended the memorial service to the late Mr, John Redmond, and on Sundav presided at Ilford at an important lecturo given by a Commissioner of the Salvation Army who has just returned from Russia. The lecturer said that wo must not think tho Russian people are not loyal to tho cause of the Allies Nine-tenths of the people are as loyal as ever, but, owing to Court intrigue and German corruption of organisation, the peoplo have looked first to ono set, only to find themselves sold, and then to another set, to bo sold by tliat, until they are so bewildered that tiicy do not know which way t<J turn. Meanwhile the Red Guard—men from tho gutters and the gaols-are slaying and looting everywhere. Mrs. Rough is helping at tho Mahutonga Club, Hornchurch. Captain Richard Webb, C.8., R.N.* brother of Mr Franklin Webb, of Levin, has becil appointed commander of H.M.a. New Zealand. . . Captain J. A. Algio has arrived m England to represent.the New Zeuland -Returned Soldiers' Association. The Rev. C. 11. Harvey, formerly vicar of Wadestown and now a chaplain in the N.Z.E.F., has decidcd to remain m England after llio war. , Dr. Barclay, of Waimate, has resigned his commission in tho R.A.M.C., after more than three years' service, and will practise at Maidstone. _ Much sympathy is felt with Mr. H. RSpence, whoso daughter, Mis 3 Dorothy Spence. died at Hazlemcro on March 1--Miss Sponce had been a very keen worker for tho N.Z.W.C.A, and the Y.M.C.A., and had overtaxed her strength. Wreaths were sent by Mr Thomas and Lady Mackenzie and by the High Commissioner's staff.

The cake day at tlio Wellington Bed Cross Shop hold by tlio Citizens' Sorvice League (with Mrs. Barltrop as organiser) met with good results, the sum. total for the day amounting in all to .£l4 lis. Od,, of which .£5 10s. was made by Miss Cooper and Miss Moss with their sale of flowers.

The weekly dance of the Sydney Street Soldiers' Club takes place this evening as usual.

At the end of last month one of the very early settlers of Auckland province, Mrs. Mary Seymour, died at her home at Woodhill. Mrs. Seymour, who was 76 years age, was born in Bonlanderei, 'Capo Breton Island, Kova Scotia, and cams with her parents, tho iate Donald nud Margaret M'Donald, of AVaipu, to New Zealand, with the early AVaipu settlers in 1853 in tlio ship Gazelle. They went to Waipu with the first settlers in 1851. In 1865 Airs. Seymour was married io tho late Mr. J. J. Hoe, who died ill 1882. The issuo of that marriage are Mr. llichard Hoe, Mrs. Gregory, Mrs. Monk, and Mrs. Vellenowetli, all now residing at Woodhill. Some years after ■her first husband's death tho lady was married to Mr. C. If. Seymour. ■ She was noted throughout the district for her kindly self-sacrifice and her generous support of philanthropic work.

The Spinsters' Club will bo in chargo of tho Wellington Ifed Cross Slion on Friday, and will have a good supply of produce of all kinds, homc-mado cakes, sauces, pickles, cliutneys, etc., etc. Everyono is urged to como and buy, and so help tho work of caring for our sick and wounded soldiers.

An entertainment which is being looked forward Io with a great deal of interest is that which is being given in tlio Grand Opera Houso on I'ridn.v evening. Part of tlio programme will bo given by Miss Gladys Campbell and her pupils, and as Miss Campbell has promised somo entirely new items of a particularly attractive character a highly artistic performance may bq looked for in every way. Tho accessories in regard to Miss Campboll's entertainments aro always so well carried out, and greatly onhanco tho finished dancing of her pupils. Contributing to tho concert part of-tho programme are Miss Teresa M'Enroe, Miss Nola Hifybillle, Messrs. IF. F. Wood, B. O'Connor, L. Barnes, P. Latham, and Martin Dull', and as the orchestra will be under I lie direction of Mr. Moschini, a musical treat is assured.
