The Borough Council to-night passed tho following resolution, en the motion of the Mayor, Mr. Jnmes Maling :-''That this council, having regard to all the circumstances of tho case, urges the Government to grant remission of the sentences passed on Messrs. Langley, Kood and Hunter, and would represent to ho Government that it considers ,hat the law having demonstrated its power, it wtn howl* best served by tempering justice with mercy."'
