LAST MONTH'S TOTAL HALF TEAT OF APRIL, 1917. ' Washington, May 10. French figures show that the Allied losses of shipping in April were half as great as those in April, 1917.—Aue.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [Tho above statement cannot bo compared directly with previously-reported figure?. The total losses in April, 1917, of all nationalities, wore reported by the Admiralty last month to have been 894,000 tons, including 555,000 tons of British. During rceont months tho averago of losses has been considerably below half tho figuiro for April, 1917, so that tho French figures indicate that last month's sinkings wore higher than has lately been usual.l TOTAL LOSSES OF ALLIES AND NEUTRALS.
