A fine, of £5 was imposed on Cecil Edwin Taylor for a breach of lus prohi-' bitiqn. order. • Default vis fixed at two months' imprisonment,, and one week's grace was allowed 't% defendant, in the' matter of payment, ,•' .

■j ■ Four, grocora wero fined £2, wifh 7s. coats, for failing to cLbse their premises in accordance with a requisition under section 25 of tho Shops and Offices Act, oh the night of tho Thursday prior to Good Friday. Tho defendants were:— •W;:Campbell, Ltd., F. Warder, Hill Bros., untl Janson Bros. _ The Labour Department was represented by Mr. It. T. Bailey, Inspector of Factories. Mr. Anderson appeared for W. Campbell, Ltd. B. Somiloff, jewoller, Manners Street, was charged with failing to eloso his shop in •accordance with a requisition duly gazetted. Mr. A. H. Hindniarsh, who defondedj said that tho defendant carried, on the business of„a pawnbroker, jeweller,, and general dealer, not merely as a, jeweller. These various businesses represented; different hours of closing. Decision was reserved. James Callimon was fined £2 and costs for' assaulting. his landlady. Tho assault was committed by tho defendant in an effort ■ to get past his irate creditor with his worldly belongings, which sho sought to detain as sccuritj for unpaid ■board. . Mr. H. F. O'Leary appeared for defendant.
