The vessel which brought a number of returned soldiers had a pleasant voyage, except for the death of one woman, a passenger: Almost all the soldiers wore walking cases. Many received their wounds at Passchcndaele, some in the Messincj, aud other engagements. Thero did not appear to be ninny crippled men, but the majority bore marks of active. 6 The Minister of Defence, (Sir James Allen) aud local officials visited the vec sel after it was cleared, ami gave a general welcome to the draft. • The'work of medical boarding was conn menced soon after" G p.m., and w.ns completed in the early hours of the morning. Apart from a slight preliminary delay, the arrangements were quite satisfactory. The vessel berthed at 8 o'clock this morning, ami the troops disembarked. A large number of Mam Body men who have gained commissions and honours are included-iD the draft.
