It was decided to forward tho resolution to (he .Department and to the board, also to a meeting of Brooklyn parents which is to bo held at Brooklyn very shortly. Another resolution which was brought forward and pt.ssed, and which will be sent to tho Minister of Justice (tho Hon. T. M. Wilford), was as follows :-"That in,cases of raids on suspected houses of ill-fame no Dames be published beforo conviction; also, that after conviction the names of the men as well f.s those of the women implicated be published." Wellington Red Cross Shop, An cxcelfent day's work was achieved at tho Wellington Bed Cross Shop yestorday, the workers of Hobson Street .and Hobson Crescent bei.ig in charge. The daintiest of needlework was to bo found on tho work stall, made by clever fingers, and produce of all kinds, including meat, had been sent in from surrounding districts. Most tempting homemade cakos and sweets were lor salo, and a novolty in the shape of a bookstall met with great success, tho sum of <£15 being made at this stall alone. In charge of tho stalls were the' following.—Work stall, Mrs. Dymock. Mrs. Lovien, Mrs. Lever, and Miss DOyley; produce and meat, Mrs. liiley, Mrs. M'Eldotvney, Mrs, Hubert Nathan, and Miss Barnctt; cakes, Mrs. A. Pcarco and Mrs. Brandon; tea stall, Mis. Lurnach and Miss Buandon and Mies Duthie; -affles, Mrs. and Mrs. MacEwan; book ftali, Miss Brandon and Miss Duthie; affiles, Mrs. Webster, Mrs. Hayman, and Mrs. Ching; flowers, Miss Cooper and Miss Moss. Mrs. Duthie was tho scowtary. Tho amount taken in. connection with the day was 7s.
The drawing of the raffles, to which a great amount of interest was attached, resulted as follows:—(1) Mr. Lan Duncan, the J6lO order upon Mr. Herb. Price. (2) Tho stocked lady's wcek-ond tuit caso, Miss Fricker. (3) The four-guinea hat at the D.1.C., Mr. Anstico, Adelaido Road. (4) Tho pair of Mrs. Gillon. The winner of the iced cake given by Mr. J. Red Cross Meeting. At the monthly meeting of the Women's Red Cross Committee Mrs. Luko presided, aud thero wero present: Mcsdames Moonoouso, Rowntreo, Tripp, Townsond, Rose, Blundell, WiU'ord, Barltrop, Morison, W. Nathan, Elliott, Finlay, Moore, and Myors, Miss Davidson, and tho secretary (Miss Sybil Nathan). Apologies wero received from Mesdames Dutkie, Pearco, Firth, and Seaton. It was stated that at tho annual meeting of tho society, Mrs. Pearco was elected a inembor of tho. executive from the Womon's Committee, tho rulo having boon amended to admit four instead of three representatives. A letter of thanks from the 6ister in charge at Victoria military ward was recoived! thanking tho committee for tho gift of 10 suits of pyjamas. A requisition waa received from Lowry Bay Military Convalescent Homo for socks.
The secretary reported that there were u number' of copies of tho third volumo of tho "New Zealand Hospital Ships' Voyages," compiled by His Excellency the Governor-General, at tho depot, for sale to any members who wanted tnem.
The annual mooting of the Mayoress's Countess of Liverpool Fund is to be held at the Town Hall on Monday at 2.30 p.m. Mrs. .T. T. Firth is visiting Christchurch. Miss Maisie Gray, daughter of Mrs. J. D. Gray, of Grant Eoad, is duo in Wellington to-da.y on her return from England. A handsome natural "musquash fur coat is being raffled on June 1 in connection with The Terraces Day at the Wellington Red Cross Shop. Tickets are selling rapidly, and the coat, which is r full-length oae, satin lined and finished in every detail, should satisfy tho heart of any woman who has the good fortune to win it. At tho conclusion of tho business of the . afternoon, Mrs. Luke, on behalf of the '; Wellington committee, thanked Mrs. Barton for having given her liie opportunity of advocating tho 'andidaturo of tho S'oldiors' Haby, and for the intend thoy were displaying in the cause.

Y.W.C.A, Notes. Next Thursday evening at the Y.W.C.A. Clubroom Miss Chamtaloup will speak to the girle and their friends. Miss Chamtaloup, who will arrive from Auckland to-day, is a recognised friend of the girls overywhere. Tho Rev. W. Shirer will speak at the service to-mor-row afternoon at 4.15.
As th«ro is now an enrolment of twenty-five names for tho first aid class of St. John Ambulance at the Y.W.C.A. Herbert Street, tho course of lectures will begin next Wednesday evening. Any other students wishing to attend these lectures should enrol without delay at tho Y.W.C.A.
Members of tho Y.W.C.A. and soldiers will be welcome at tho social this evening at the Y.W.C.A., Herbert Street. Miss Elsie Still will bo responsible for the arrangement of tho programme. During tho month fifty-soven young women stayed at the Y.W.C.A. hostels as visitors, and sixteen girls were takcD into permanent residence.
'I\he members of tho Y.W.C.A. Savings Club have been invited to form a discussion circle. This club consists of girls who give part of their wages week by _ week to tho Y.W.C.A. collector who visits shops and factories. Last month 17s. was collected and deposited in tho Post Office Savings Bank. The first discussion which took place this week became very animated upon tho subject of ''Economy in Dress." This and other subjects will be considered in relation to the war during tho winter mouths, and the principles of the League of Honour will bo encouraged at all the meetings. Tho aim of the League of Honour is to band together tho women and girls of tho Dominion in tho service of God and Empire at this time of dangor in our national history. Each member of tho Leaguo of Honour pledges herself to do all in her power to uphold the honour of our nntion and its defenders in this time of war by prayer, purity, and temperance. Mrs. Good is tho secretary of the Leaguo of Honour of the Y.W.C.A. here.

Deference was made by Miss I'ulling, headmistress of tho Diocesan High School, at the annual prize-giving in Auckland on Wednesday to a movement which she stated was afoot throughout tho Empire for using a pupil's Bchool [record, rather than examination successes, as the test of fitness far various posts. Tho proposal, said Mws I'ulling. was to form a central register, on which girle, as thtey left scboai, could onrol and bo classified according to their whole school record. It was interesting that in New Zealand this was. to a great extent, already informally dono. The matter was discussed at a. meeting of headmistresses eho attended in January, and she hoped next year to bo able to slate that soma practical steps had been takon towards making the school record a Tecognised thing in New Zealand, and ft practioul asset for girls who had to earn their living. Miss Pulling added that for nurses, clerks, post ofneo girle and others, headmistresses were constantly required to give, not examination results, but certificates as to practical efficiency during a girl's school career.
Very much interest is being' taken In the canteen of silver and cutlery which has been donated by Messrs. Stewart Dawson and Co. to the Eed Cross Com. mitteo of Hobson Street, the Terraces, and Wadeslown. In addition to the canteen several other prizes have been given, for raffling purposes, among them being a diamond ring a bracelet watch, and a number of electro-plated articles of good value. Tickets in connection with the raffle may bo obtained on receipt of a stamped addressed envelope from Messrs.
