FREEMASONRY
GRAND LODGE SESSION ENDS.
The principal discussion at the final sitting- of Ihp convocation of the Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand, held yesterday, look place upon a revival of an oft-debated proposal for the location of the Grand Secretary's office in Wellington, instead of, as at present, placing it for periods of two years in the four chief centres of Hid Dominion in rotation. The proposal came in the present instance from a Wang:tnui lodge, and it was debated upon lines well beaten in former years. Eventually, the. motion was rejected on a show of hands. As the. result of another motion, it was resolved to recommend all lodges to ask their members to contribute 2s. each per annum to the Widows and Orphans and Aged Masons' Fund, in addition to Iho sums now raised at installation meetings. The purpose is to make possible the increase of the amounts of present annuities, where necessary, as a counterpoise to the increased cost of living, and also the granting of new annuities. The motion was agreed to without discussion.
The' other business of the silting was of purely Masonic inleresl. and ))m Grand Lodge was closed at 12.30 midday.
