I New York, May 7. _ ; . The New York "Times," in an ediI torial, says: "Ireland runs over with prosperity while England lives on cloho rations. Wo have hoard too much of tho wrongs of Ireland. For a generation England has sought to confer benefits on Ireland and to redrew old injuries. Is Kngland to blame for the quarrels or Irishmen? Thero is a shortage of silver in many towns in tho south-west of Ireland. This is due to a Sinn Fein campaign. The loaders put about ft rumour that the Government intonded to repudiato the ]>ound and ton-shilling notes. Immediately tho poorer classes invaded tho shops nnd tendered notes for purchases which woro of ton worth only a fow pence, lne panic continues, and business is greatly i hampered.—Aus.-N.Z.
