The Arbitration Court declined . to make an award in the soft goods trade dispute, on the grounds that the applicant union cannot bo said lo be representative; that the great majority or the workers have declared themselves satisfied with the present state of affairs, and do not want an award; that the union has failed to show that wages and conditions are unsatisfactory; tlmt tho dispute, though technielly in order, was not a real or substantial one; and that the 'wa»es at present paid in Auckland arc in excess of those (jranled by the Court to similar workers elsewhere.
