THE "EASTER EGG" SCHEME

.£591 COLLECTED. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) has received a statement of accounts regarding the iSuw Zealand Natives' .issociation's "Duster Egg" ocheme, which was arranged for the benefit of tlie sufferers ljy the fire in tbe Kaitihi district. The statement shows that the receipts amounted to Jil(iS6 lib. 3d., of which amount .tWill IBs. 2d. vos incurred in expenditure, leaving a ]>alanee of J.'5!)4 15s. Id. Of that the sum of 3s. Id. was spent in providing blan/,ets, tents, mattresses, pillows, etc., for the pressing needs of burnt-out settlers, .leaving u cash balance oi £'i& 125., a cheque for which was enclosed as a contribution towards the Mayor's fund.
