RELIGIOUS OBJECTORS.
.Sir,—ln Wednesday's Dominion we have a (statement by the : Minister of Defeucs giving the reusons for the exemption o£ a large number of the-Seventh Day Adventists at Hamilton. It strikes one as very strange that such Bible students as the Christadelphiaus, Quakers, and notably the SID.A., should piead 'or military exemption on- religious or Scriptural authority. From the early history of the world, we have had Divine instructions what to do with the murderer. "By man shall his blood ba shed." Gen. !M>. See also marginal references. It was God (Elohiym) Wlio laid down that law, over 800 years before the Mosalo Law was ordained. AVe are not to suppose that Jesus set aside His Father's Law when He wns upon earth. He did not, and could not do so, but confirmed it by stating m His ■ eproof to Peter, the would-be aggressor, "All they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Matt. 28-52. Jesus again repeats the same by John in Itcv. 13-10: "He that killeth with the sword must be killed with tne sword." It is the murderer who is for--5 bidden to use the sword, and,-should he do so, and kill, then some one is to put him to deatn, and the one who does it is not a murderer, but he is a "minister of God, a revenger to execute wratu upon him that doeth evil." Rom. 134. It 13 high time'for these "religious objectors to become ministers of God, to .execute vengeance upon the German murderers. In such a war as this, it is commendable to imitate the example of Holy Samuel, who "Hewed Agug in pieces before tho Lord in Gilgal." 1 Sam. 15-33. (I ho logical result of .lie religions objector is abolition of capital punishment.) Mi) Christian could be a German soldiery they can bo, and rhould be, for the AiIt is equally inconsistent for the Seventh Day Advontists to turn foi; support to the Bible for non-militnry service, and then go to the almanac instead of the Bible for their objection to perform dutv on Ihe so-called Saturday. The onlv authoritative law, to count tho davs of the week all. round the world, must be that given and appointed by the Almighty, in the fourth cays woriC in Creation week. Gen. 1-14-19. Iho seventh day of the Bible weekly cycle, which is given in the first chapter of Genesis, is the Sabbath all over tne globe. But when a new wetkly cycle is made by the navigator in the Pacific Ocean, some 15,000 miles Lden, the original place where the Bible weekly cycle commenced, then Monday _is tho first day of the new cycle oj:il_ Sunday is the seventh day Sabbaih :n New Zealand. Thus, the S.D.A. try to ooservs the day that is called V Almanac Saturday, which by the Bj'-ie count is the sixth dav, or Eridry. The" leave the Bible, and 'tarn to the in.vr-made almanac, nnd set aside the authority of •the Creator for the navigator. Instead of adhering to the Foly Scnjij lures, "they conform to this world. See 1 Peter,' 2. 1.1-1?. Bv the consideration of these facts, it is easy to measure up the objections of these «-ca!led "religious obfcetors," which we commend to the consideration of the Minister of Defence.—l am, etc.. DAVID XIELD.
