PROTESTANT FOLITICAL ASSOCIATION (INCORPORATED).
Sir.-In the absence of the Eev. How- j ard Elliott, who is at present m the south, I submit the following for the information of your 'eadcre, in reply to the letter by "Observer":The facts nre as stated, the two organisations are separate and distinct, one being the "Loyal Orange Institution (incorporated), the other "The Protestant Political Association of New Zealand (incorporated). The meetings of last week held in this city w.ere entirely and absolutely under the auspices of tho latter body. Unintentionally, no doubt, your correspondent provides* complete answer to his letter by quoting: "This is a body (the V.V.k.) called into existence by the Orange Grand Lqdge, for the express purpose of consolidating the mass of Protestant (lectors outside the institution." This paragraph means exactly what it says. Any man of tho sixth standard intelligence would know that they cannot be "outside the institution" and "in" at the same time. Incidentally alfo, "Observer's" quotation from tlie ''Nation" substantiates the statement of Mr. Elliott that this paper eon be obtained publicly, as neainst the statement of the Archbishop tha.t it is "for private circulation." Having in mind also the reference nf the AreMjishon tn nn "undnreround fraternity," one would nnturnlly expect that anyone holding n brief fnr that eentleman would lie i»anly enough to conduct operations in the open, instead of sniping from behind f ho nheltor of a nom-de-plume.-I am ' H. STIWRY BTTfIY. Dominion Secretary. AVp'linston, May 2, 1918.
