Daron koto's succession to A'iscount Montono as Foreign Minister is regarded as indicating the. definite 'rejection of schemes for intervention by .Japan in Siberia.. Japan is unwilling to act unless the Allies are unanimous. The newspapers anticipate that Baron Goto will promote an economic rapprochement with China. Tho "Nichi xVichi Sliinibmi" demands the recognition of the Balsheviki, and the withdrawal of marincsfroin Vladivostok when order is restored. Baron Goto, in a speech, stated that (lie landing of Japanese ami British marines wa9, unduly exaggerated. He expressed friendship and sympathy for Russia, and. promised to help to restore itsindustrial and political stability. He is determined to maintain the friendliest relations with Japan's neighbours in the East, and to continue his predecessor's policy of assisting the Allies to the ut-most.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
