1918 SENIOB CHAMPIONSHIP. The Kugby Union senior chntnpioneliip competition opens at the Athletic Park this afternoon, at a quarter to 3, when 'Varsity and l'etonc, two popular teams, meet on Ho. 1, ■Athletic Park. Both clubs lire reported to be much etrouger than la»t year, owing to the abolitioa of the age limit, find as a result a few noted players will ttep out after absence on service abroad. A special feature of this season's K-upby will bo a separate senior competition for 60ldier3 and outeide clubs, and the Trenfcham Rugby Football Clube A tenin meet Ponoke, which had the bye in the senior competition, on No. 2 ground, Athletic Park. The Forty-second Roinforceinents were to have been pitted against Trentham, but owing to mobilisation this v;eek the n.c.o.'s, who meantime constitute the 42nd team, are not available. Thero will be the usual lower grade matches at 1.30 p.m.; St. Patrick's. College appearing on both grounds, and Wellington Technical High School—a new club—on No. 1. At Petone, Wellington meet Old Boys. Junior and third grade matches do not commence until Saturday, May 11. FI&TUBES, GROUNDS & REFEREES.
