1918 SENIOB CHAMPIONSHIP. The Kugby Union senior chntnpioneliip competition opens at the Athletic Park this afternoon, at a quarter to 3, when 'Varsity and l'etonc, two popular teams, meet on Ho. 1, ■Athletic Park. Both clubs lire reported to be much etrouger than la»t year, owing to the abolitioa of the age limit, find as a result a few noted players will ttep out after absence on service abroad. A special feature of this season's K-upby will bo a separate senior competition for 60ldier3 and outeide clubs, and the Trenfcham Rugby Football Clube A tenin meet Ponoke, which had the bye in the senior competition, on No. 2 ground, Athletic Park. The Forty-second Roinforceinents were to have been pitted against Trentham, but owing to mobilisation this v;eek the n.c.o.'s, who meantime constitute the 42nd team, are not available. Thero will be the usual lower grade matches at 1.30 p.m.; St. Patrick's. College appearing on both grounds, and Wellington Technical High School—a new club—on No. 1.
