— —— 9 The cricket social in connection with thu Boys' Institute Club proved a decid#.l success. The following rendered selections:—Mrs. Duncan, Miss Jopliii, Miss Peck. Miss M'Keon, Hits 13. Davies, Messrs. S. Peek, G. Peek, W. Church, and Mr. Duncan. Mr. L. T. Watkms proposed the toast "Our Old Boys at the Front and Kindred Clubs," Mr. G. T. < Bolt, of St. Cuthbert's, replying Mr. A. | M. Farnell, secretary of the Wellington Swimming Centre, presented the Wellington Club's Lloyd Cup to H. Anderson. All the distances in connection with this cup were won by members of the institute, and they received medals, viz:— 50yds. Handicap, G. Gill; 75yds. Handicap, K. Gibson; 100 yds. Handicap, H. Greenfield. Mr. Farno.lt also present-' ed a certificate to John E. Banks for swimming three miles one hundred yards, vhich distance constituted a record for (ho Boys' Institute Baths, for Wellington. 11 r. L. T, Watkins presented the successful teams during the past season's championship with medals, viz:—Senior Boys' A Team,—H. Prince (captain), L. Smith ivice-captain), A. Tarrant, V. Mills, W. l'ryor, C. Herd, L. Smith, E. V. Henderson, F. Murray, J. Shanahan, N. Bins, U. Sohvay, C. Higgins. Junion A Grade Team—f! Ban- (captain), D. Burt (viceCaptain), P. Carey, A. Douglas, H. Softly, G. Maddoeks, W. Aitken, 'E. Bennett, G. Burt, E. Jeffery, W. Tucker, A. Allen, .1. Bratleock. Junior B. Grade C Team—B. Cunningham (captain), W. Ifanley (vico-oaplain), L. Malcolm, E. Dawe, L. Johnson, J. Banks, S. Dempster, W. Harris, H. Guy, E. Bolt, W. Stoddart, H. Lambert, G. Stark. The medals also presented by the Wellington Did Boys' Cricket League for the best batting 'unci bowling averages were also presented—Junior A Grade Team—Batling: T. Ban-; bowling: H. Softly. Junior B Grtido Team—Batting: S. Dempster; bowling: J. Banks. It was pointeel out that J. Banks until last season had never 1 plnyed in a match before, and yet aI: the end of the season ho had taken 79 wickets for an average of 2.G run?, (hereby creating a record in boys' cricket in' Wellington. He received i> special trophy presented by Mr. Brewer,, custodian of tho Basin Keserve.
